Good Advice
WE MUST NOT SWEEP CHILD ABUSE - emotional bullying, physical or sexual - UNDER THE CARPET
- We must also ‘cover our own backs’ at clubs and as individuals
We often hear comments along the lines of ‘A load of extra administration and another volunteer needed - how will we find the time?’
- It won’t be easy - that’s why the KCB has devised what it considers a ‘reasonable’ time scale and phasing in of requirements over 3 years-we recognise the difficulties and scepticism that exists at many of our clubs. This timescale has been endorsed by the ECB.
KCB urges more clubs to apply for ‘Clubmark’ status - Child Protection and Welfare issues are part of that process and course fees may in the future be subsidised.
District Development Officers will appoint District Welfare Officers to offer advice and support and act as a liaison between Clubs and the KCB Welfare Officer.
The County Welfare Officer will be only too glad to help wherever possible - e.g. policies, CRB applications.
BUT it is necessary in the present climate - no club can take the risk of being complacent. WE ALL HAVE A DUTY OF CARE TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE AT OUR CLUBS.
