The U13 girls got off to a losing start in the LV county championship against Surrey.

Bowling first, Kent’s bowlers were wayward, bowling too many wides but at the end, were happy to have restricted Surrey to 127 for 9 from 30 overs.

Kent were soon on the back foot as the Surrey opening bowlers reduced them to 16 for 5 inside the first 6 overs. Consolidation was required and this came with the 9th wicket partnership between Phillipa Hemphrey and Grace Franklin who put on 50 before Grace was bowled of the last ball of the innings.

Kent finished on 115 for 9, losing by 12 runs.

Match Report:

After a disappointing start against Surrey, Kent’s Under 13 girls got into winning ways with a victory over Sussex at Ferring CC.

This time around Kent batted first and a good batting performance produced a score of 127 for 8, with Tash Farrant top scoring with 32.

Sussex started very well but with the introduction of Anna Healey, 4-0-7-3 and Hannah Mount, 4-1-16-3 Sussex were bowled out inside the 30 overs. Kent won by 22 runs and took 20pts from the match.

This was a great team performance from Kent’s Under 13 girls, capped of by an excellent individual performance from captain Tash Farrant.

Kent batted first on a hot sunny day at Castle Hill CC and posted an imposing target for Middlesex of 153 for 4 off their 30 overs. Tash Farrant top scored with 68 assisted by Gen Masters (27) and Phillipa Hemphrey, also with 27.

Middlesex batters were soon up against it when Tash Farrant took the first three wickets, finishing with figures of 3-1-5-3.

Middlesex then found the going even harder as Sarah Martins returned match figures of 4-2-4-2 and Hannah Mount 2-1-1-1. Middlesex were bowled out in the 21st over for 61 with Ms Extras top scoring on 21.

Having beaten Middlesex the week before Kent Under 13 girls set off in confident mood to take on Essex at Garon Park Southend.

With Essex batting first Kent set about their work with the ball and with all making a contribution to the cause Essex were bowled out for 103 inside 27 overs.

Kent made a cautious start but with the openers, Hollie Summers 45 n.o. and Hannah Mount 27 putting on an opening stand of 85 the game had all but been won when Phillipa Hemphrey joined Hollie at the crease to see Kent home in the 22nd over with nine wickets in hand.
