Having beaten Sussex, Cornwall, and Shropshire, Kent then had to play Lancashire on the last day, and in front of a couple of hundred spectators put up an excellent performance. Such well known Kent players such as Rob Key, Matt Walker having played in this match for Kent in their formative years as well as Freddie Flintoff, and Gary Neville for the Lancashire side so the competition has always been very tough.

Kent inserted Yorkshire in a 40 over per side game and bowled and fielded with great skill being well marshaled by Captain Oli Collins. The seam bowlers of Harvey Crump, Michael Waller, and Bruce Thompson, bowled economically applying pressure to the Lancs batsmen who then took risks and this led to 2 run outs, Waller snatched the wicket of their key batsman, and off spinner Collins and leg spinner Ben Johnston took 2 wickets each before Harvey Crump took 2 wickets at the tail to leave them at 100 for 9 off the 40 overs

Kent started the chase confidently with a good opening partnership between Will Heywood and Harry Langham  taking them to 42 before the pressure led to a run out  and Langham departed with 26. Gould went quickly but Waller then established a solid partnership with Heywood which took the score on to 73, before Lancs took a spate of wickets  including Heywood, Ryan Davies, Piers Richardson, Bruce Thompson and Zak Crawley and things started to look bleak for Kent but in  the end Michael Waller and Skipper Oli Collins saw them home in a thrilling finish with 3 overs to spare, demonstrating the strength, depth, and character of this young Kent side

Manger Mike Green was delighted with the performance but was keen to highlight the work put in by coaches Tim Burleigh and Craig Riley whom he said had put in an incredible amount of work over the past 9 months coaching and shaping the side into one of the most formidable on the County circuit
