Great idea from Margate CC
We make no apologies for reminding all clubs in the district that this coming weekend is the 2008 CricketForce event. There’s a whole host of information about it on this website so we won’t repeat it here. But how about this? Margate CC have sent a newsletter to all their members about the event and we’ve included a version of it here.
You might like to think about doing the same sort of thing to your members. We’ll leave you to sort out the details but this version includes some ideas about what your event organiser might have been thinking about over the last few months.
Hi all
Cricketforce weekend coming up NEXT weekend, 4th to 6th April inclusive!
OK, 4th April is bound to be a bit hit and miss because it’s a Friday and a work day. But if you want to work at the Club on Friday 4th, please let me know and arrangements will be made to open up.
Saturday 5th we start at —.— through to as late as people want. The emphasis that day will be on outdoor things eg, fence repairs , painting, (bring your paint brushes), general tidying of field , grass cutting etc.
[Don’t forget to mention whatever special arrangements you might have put in place for the weekend, like machinery and plant hire and so on]
[Have you arranged for the event to be videod and photographed? If you have, mention that and who’s doing what and so on] Maybe the official NatWest photographer might be able to come along?
NatWest are the sponsors of Cricketforce weekend - and provide the event with T-shirts.
PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE can you be there for that photoshoot …
If we run out of outside jobs - some hope! - there will be painting and small building works to do inside - still need some grouting, plumbing, tiling, cleaning, doing in the showers, kitchen, bar, toilets - you get the idea!
Sunday is also —.— to late and will concentrate on the club house, scorebox, kitchen, toilets, showers - lots of finishing off jobs to do and the [whatever] needs repairing, emptying re-building, painting, in an orderly fashion - hopefully we have some shelving, paint, piping for it.
As ever, grasscutting around the fence, pavilion and so on is needed and as ever as well, general tidying up.
AND the mobile nets, Flicx pitch, non-turf pitch, wickets, sightscreens needs repairing and we need an inventory of all playing equipment and dumping anything which isn’t up to scratch.
It’s first come first served on then t-shirts and even if you can only offer just one
hour’s work (on the way back from your match, in-laws, shopping trip) PLEASE get down to ground help the usual suspects who ALWAYS turn up on these occasions - free coffee and tea and squash [bacon butties?] for the kids is laid on!
PS It would also be a good opportunity for you to bring your cheque for your 2008 subscription which is now due!
Great stuff and a great idea from Margate CC!
