Kent Cricket Board (KCB) is committed to transparency and equality in all of its dealings with clubs and individuals throughout the county. We want all aspects of the business of developing Cricket to be as open as possible.
Planning for the future success of Cricket in Kent is a process vital to KCB because it allows us to demonstrate to all of our partners and stakeholders how we will be managing the game at all levels in the County in the next three years.
Future planning is no different in terms of transparency and open-ness and it is vital to KCB that the views and opinions of everyone associated with the game are actively sought and accommodated wherever possible within our written plans. Only in that way will they reflect the opinions and aspirations of the cricketing community in Kent.
With that in mind, KCB today released the first public draft of the Strategic Plan for Cricket in Kent 2008-11.
It is hoped that members of the cricket community in Kent will read and comment on them. The plan is designed to ensure that Kent is the dominant County in relation to on-field success. The necessary ingredients to achieve that are talent development, quality cricket programmes, good management, and community engagement.
Jamie Clifford, Director of Cricket Development outlined the aims of the plan: “We will create opportunities for all in Kent to engage with the game in a variety of ways that suit their lifestyles and aspirations. In addition we are committed to providing pathways of excellence for talented young Kent cricketers, both male and female, so that they are given every chance to achieve success. We are now in a critical phase in our history where we must build on the achievements of the past and move forward to ensure that cricket in Kent not only continues to prosper but is a leader in all aspects of cricket development”.
