]]></description><wfw:commentRss>http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/jamie-cliffords-blog/rss-comments-entry-1907921.xml</wfw:commentRss></item><item><title>Rural Policing Conference</title><dc:creator>Jamie Clifford</dc:creator><pubDate>Tue, 08 Apr 2008 17:07:27 +0000</pubDate><link>http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/jamie-cliffords-blog/2008/4/8/rural-policing-conference.html</link><guid isPermaLink="false">129065:1160543:1907917</guid><description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Spent today at a meeting hosted by Kent Police.&nbsp; Focussing on the challenge of working rural communities, it provided a very useful background to a project I am currently working on to offer community outreach within rural areas.</strong></p><p>There are some unique challenges faced by our rural communities, something that is perhaps missed by sport.&nbsp; We often focus on inner city initiatives but really some of the problems in rural areas are just as great.&nbsp; The feeling of isolation and boredom regularly leads to anti-social behaviour on quite a major scale.&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />There are currently 54 Kent Police schemes that engage an average of 4000 children per week &ndash; most of these occur in urban settings.&nbsp; It is envisaged that we might tie in with local Police and/or Community Wardens which could help widen the programmes currently offered into rural areas.&nbsp; <br />Watch this space as the plans takes shape.</p>
