<p>Thankfully, although a little chilly at times, the weather was quite kind to us. The two semi-finals resulted in wins for St.Lawrence + Highland Court over Bexley.</p>
<p>Batting first Bexley attained 61-4 in their allotted 16 overs with St.Lawrence reaching their target at 65-0 in 9.1 overs.</p>
<p>In the other semi Leeds and Broomfield reached 108-2 and restricted Colfeians Falcons to 88-4 both teams batting out their 16 overs.</p>
<p>In the 3rd/4th play-off Bexley reached 74-5 in 16 overs with their local rivals Colfeians knocking off the runs in 9.2 overs in reaching 76-2.</p>
<p>St.Lawrence and Highland Court took the honours of the day by winning the final when they restricted Leeds and Broomfield to 68-2 in 16 overs and reached their title winning score of 70-0 in 10.2 overs.</p>

<p>The Under 13 match that was supposed to be played today, 4th August, between Colfeians and St Lawrence and Highland Court had to be cancelled.&nbsp; <br /><br /><strong>A reminder that the Kent Under 13 Girls League Finals Day is at Polo Farm, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury on August Bank Holiday Monday from 10am.</strong><br /><br />The Teams involved are the top two from each of the North and South Kent Leagues.</p>
<p>St Lawrence and Highland Court or Bells Yew Green will play Bexley<br />Leeds and Broomfield Girls will play Colfeians<br /><br />These Play offs will determine 4th through to 1st placed teams in Kent.</p>

]]></content></entry><entry><title>Kent Lady Taverner's Girls Under 11 Festival at Hayes</title><id>http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/girls-club-cricket/2011/7/19/kent-lady-taverners-girls-under-11-festival-at-hayes.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/girls-club-cricket/2011/7/19/kent-lady-taverners-girls-under-11-festival-at-hayes.html"/><author><name>System Manager</name></author><published>2011-07-19T06:45:15Z</published><updated>2011-07-19T06:45:15Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-GB"><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 110%;"><strong>Congratulations to Tunbridge Wells Under 11 Girls cricket team.&nbsp; They triumphed in the Kent Lady Taverners Kwik Cricket festival by beating Bexley in a most exciting final by just one run. &nbsp;</strong><br /></span><br /><strong>Nearly one hundred girls from ten clubs took part in the festival, hosted by Hayes Cricket Club.&nbsp; Dodging in and out of the heavy showers, the first round of matches were completed, with Tunbridge Wells, Bexley, Castle Hill and Whitstable emerging as the semi finalists.</strong><br /><br />Blue sky appeared overhead for a few moments.&nbsp; It presented a marvellous opportunity for all the girls to receive their Lady Taverners certificates from Hayes, Kent and England stars Lydia Greenway and Laura Marsh.&nbsp; This was an absolute thrill for all the young girls, and it showed in their happy, smiling faces as they stood for photos and collected autographs from England players.<br /><br />Laura Collins, Chairman of the Kent and Sussex Lady Taverners was also on hand to congratulate the four teams that had reached the semi finals.<br /><br />The weather abated for the last hour enabling the last few matches to be played in dry conditions.&nbsp; David Sear, festival organiser, said &ldquo;it was a good day.&nbsp; We did very well in tricky conditions to complete most of the festival and end up with a winning team for Kent.&nbsp; Everyone including the girls, team managers, scorers and parents were superb.&rdquo;<br /><br />For the record, Castle Hill beat Whitstable to take third place, but it was the impressive Tunbridge Wells squad who took the honours over a plucky Bexley outfit by the narrowest of margins.<br /><br />Tunbridge Wells go forward to represent Kent at the Regional Finals on 30th August at Shenley.</p>

<p><strong>We are looking for girls to join local cricket clubs across the county and also to identify girls who have the potential for selection into a Kent girls Under 11 squad for winter training and summer matches for the 2012 season. &nbsp;</strong><br />&nbsp;<br />Previous experience may be advantageous but not essential as there will be plenty of opportunity to develop cricket specific skills if selected for further training.&nbsp; However, if you like sport and would like to do more cricket, then this day would be suitable for you.</p>

]]></content></entry><entry><title>Girls Festivals 2011 - Report from Bells Yew Green</title><id>http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/girls-club-cricket/2011/6/16/girls-festivals-2011-report-from-bells-yew-green.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.kentcricketboard.co.uk/girls-club-cricket/2011/6/16/girls-festivals-2011-report-from-bells-yew-green.html"/><author><name>System Manager</name></author><published>2011-06-16T10:24:45Z</published><updated>2011-06-16T10:24:45Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-GB"><![CDATA[<p><strong><span style="font-size: 110%;">Congratulations to Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club.&nbsp; They won the second of the season&rsquo;s Kwik Cricket Festivals for Under11 Girls club teams, which was hosted by Bells Yew Green Cricket Club.&nbsp; Considering that they have only had a dedicated girls section for two years, this was a remarkable achievement.</span><br /><br />Girls club cricket in Kent is continuing to flourish, and this was borne out with a record entry of twelve clubs and fourteen teams participating.&nbsp; We welcomed Old Elthamians entering a girls team for the first time in the club&rsquo;s history. &nbsp;</strong><br /><br />In order to participate, Leeds and Broomfield formed a team by combining the girls from their own club, plus other girls from the neighbouring clubs of Hollingbourne and Marden.&nbsp; This is a splendid initiative that other clusters of clubs should be encouraged in order to give more girls the opportunity to play.<br /><br />For the record, Tunbridge Wells won all four of their festival matches, beating the consistent Castle Hill and the May festival winners, by 19 runs in the final.&nbsp; Bells Yew Green were 3rd with Canterbury a creditable fourth, their highest position in two years.<br /><br />St Lawrence and Highland Court beat Whitstable in the Googly Plate Final, with Bexley sneaking 3rd place by one run off the last ball over near neighbours Hayes.<br /><br />Old Elthamians won the Yorker Plate League, defeating Sidcup (first appearance this season), and Leeds and Broomfield. &nbsp;<br /><br />Old Colfeians took the Bouncer Plate League by defeating second teams from Tunbridge Wells and Bells Yew Green.<br /><br />In spite of wet conditions, the whole afternoon passed off smoothly with everyone playing in good spirit.&nbsp; Once again, David Sear, Festival Organiser, paid tribute to all the adults who had organised and coached the girls&rsquo; teams, and also adults who helped to score and umpire.<br /><strong><br />The next festival, which doubles as Kent&rsquo;s entry into the National Lady Taverners Under 11 Girls Festival, is to be held at Hayes Cricket Club on Sunday 17th July, 1.00pm start.</strong></p>
