It will be held at Cranbrook School on three consecutive Sundays starting March 14th 2010. 

UKCC Level 1 is for those who perhaps want to start on a coaching career, or perhaps for teachers who would like to enhance their skill set or for parents who might want to see for themselves what the Club is trying to get their children to achieve and be involved first hand.

All coaching qualifications need candidates to complete mandatory First Aid and Safeguarding and Protecting Children courses and they have been included as part of the programme for this event.  Details are in the application form.

For your information all courses require that candidates attend all sessions:  missing even one will mean an automatic failure and a new course undertaken later.

   * Presenters received scores in the range of 1 to 10 (the 1 was on safety concerns) with an      average score of 8.2

A very wide range of individual comments was receieved about the best parts of the day.  Notably, fitness & exercise, new fielding drills, LTAD, back to basics, the hands-on approach, a good balance of topics, listening to an International Coach were highlighted.  The most numbers of comments received was on appreciation of fielding and fitness drills.
   
As far as improvements in the future that could be made there was a wide range of issues raised.  Some felt that a 50/50 balance betweeb practical & listening would be best although others felt there should be more more practical sessions.

Other suggesions were using academy players for demonstrations whilst some thought asking more of the County’s professionals to be involved would be an improvement.

There were issues about the lighting levels when making video presentations and there was a suggestion that less technology should be used:  it was also suggested that cutting the video would be an improvement.  Some coaches would prefer to have more topics in shorter sessions whilst others were suggesting that more technique work would be an improvement.

Suggestions about the day in general included not having drinks available at lunch and no coffee break in the afternoon sessions.

Suggestions were made that an emphasis should be on more drills for club us and coaching the very young players.

The ECB’s Disability Awareness Pack, designed for use by coaches working with cricketers with a disability, but just as relevant for all coaches, is now available to download.

The pack has been devised to offer coaches some insight into strategies to use when coaching disabled players.

The ECB believes that cricket should be open and accessible to all. By providing this information to coaches we aim to remove the barriers for coaches working with disabled cricketers and build confidence; applying strategies and advice from the nation’s top disability cricket coaches.

Firstly KCB Coaches Association need your nominations for coaches who you feel have been outstanding this year.  If you’ve got a name and would like to nominate him or her there’s a form to fill in which can be downloaded from here.  Please return it to Heidi Coleman.

KCB CA is also currently looking for coaches who would be happy to volunteer as a support coach for candidates on the UKCC2 coaching course.  If you’re interested in helping out please fill in this form and return to Heidi Coleman at KCB.

We are also currently looking for coaches who would be interested in coaching cricket in local primary schools.  The KCB and the 12 ‘Chance to shine’ Clubs in Kent are often looking to employ coaches to deliver primary school coaching during the school day in the Spring and Summer term.  If you feel you could help out, particularly during terms 5 and 6 please complete the attached form and return to Heidi Coleman at KCB.

Please note that ‘Chance to shine’ posts are not available to those with UKCC1 qualifications, are paid posts at a set hourly rate, subject to NIC and PAYE deducations and you must complete a ‘Working in Schools’ course before starting work in any School.

Please note that day is open only to current ECB Coaches Association Members.

All joking aside, if you as a coach, want to work in a School either for your Club, KCB, Chance to shine or even for yourself, this course is mandatory.

Demand for the course has been high and so we’ve now arranged for another to take place on Sunday 27th April 2008 at Kent College, Whitstable Road in Canterbury.
