The Lord Mayor's Legacy Fund 2011
A funding opportunity has arisen through a scheme called The Lord Mayor’s Skill Legacy Fund that is available to all cricket coaches that coach at a club within a London Borough. The aim of the fund is to increase participation in sport post London 2012.
The scheme runs from now until March 2012 and the proposal is that cricket coaches can get up to 75% of a UKCC1 or UKCC2 funded through the Legacy Fund in exchange for carrying out voluntary coaching hours at a cricket club in a London Borough. You do not have to live in a London Borough but must carry out the voluntary hours in a London Borough cricket club. Discounts are available in exchange for voluntary hours.
The notes of explanation are attached as is an application form.
If you have any further questions on the Legacy Fund please contact Heidi Coleman (KCB Cricket Programmes Manager) heidi.coleman.kent@ecb.co.uk on 01227 473618.
Kent Cricket Board Coaches Association Conference 2011
The annual Coaches conference has attracted Cricket Coaching Mats as its sponsor this year - www.cricketcoachingmats.com

The Cricket Coaching Mat is a tried and tested piece of coaching equipment that quickly teaches youngsters to bat better.
Ironically, it is wayward bowling that makes it difficult to teach youngsters to bat! How can you coach the cover drive when the first ball flies down the leg side, the next one is a beamer and the third bounces twice!! Regular and consistent feed is needed and this is why the coaching mat works so well. It works brilliantly in the back garden for a youngster wanting to raise their game to the next level. Similarly it is superb in both a school and club setting as it allows players to improve their techniques whilst developing match play skills at the same time.
“Whether you are a professional, a beginner or somewhere in between, the coaching mat will take your game further” Andrew Gale - Yorkshire CCC Captain and England Lions
The mats are used throughout the County of Kent and in particular by Ian Coleman of Orpington CC who says “Just to say how happy I have been with the coaching mat, I have tried the mat out on all our different age groups and had total success. All the boys and girls have been enthusiastic about using this new fun piece of kit. I have used the mat in the middle, against the side of the net and most successfully inside the net and usually with boys working in pairs so that they can spot each others strengths and weaknesses. Your Cricket Coaching Mat has transformed the way that I am coaching at Orpington and the Bromley District sides that I help coach”
