Neglected Bloggers !!

Posted on 22 Nov 07 by Registered CommenterClair Gould | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail

I’ve been nagged to write something on the blogg, as it’s been a while!!

Been a strange time at KCB over the last 4 months - really busy over the last month - little bit of playing catch up, but mainly in finding out how to move on to areas new!  Sorry if you have rung the office and only got the messages, it has been difficult to be in 3 places at once, even for me - there was me thinking i had this multi tasking off to a fine art!

Thanks to all those who came on Sunday 18th November to the Coaches Associations development day - bit more multi tasking here too.

All seemed to go well during the day.  There was a lot to get through, but all of those attending should have gained something, as the networking on it’s own is so important.  Feedback forms by the coaches gave some pretty positive thoughts, and ideas for the next development day, so hopefully the coaches should gain more of what they would find most interesting and beneficial again at the next one - but i now hand this over to capable hands - Good luck Heidi!!

New role is becoming clearer….gradually.  I’ve been out to a few clubs and districts to get a feel for what you , in the field, would most appreciate the new role to incorporate. In the main it looks like someone there to Listen and provide support for the Clubs and Districts is the thing most wanted.  Relay what is working or challenging in the field back to be heard by KCB and ECB when possible, and provide assistance with those challenges, wherever able.  Be there, to anwer questions and queries - and when not sure how to do that, go and find out! Share ‘Best Practise’ between Clubs and Districts, when it would be useful to do so. Help lines of communication, not just with KCB but other partners in cricket, which should be beneficial to help district and clubs develop.  And …… oh loads more!  Looking forward to it.

I’m the port of call if a club or district need any help in the East or Middle of Kent, so that should keep me out of mischief for a bit.

I must now lighten this up, as i have also been told recently that i’d been far too serious and therefore, boring on the blogg of late, but then this was a friend, whose only interest in cricket is whether the players have decent legs!!  No real information on the blogg just the coach ed stuff - how dare i?  So now that the coach ed bits has nearly been passed over to Heidi, I can get on to far more pressing info, as The Villages Christmas Fair, that is just around the corner, on 1st December, that i have to bake 50 cakes or so for, and make the soup!  The Country Fair back in July, was nearly a wash out, as it rained through most of it, still made £3500 for the Churches in the village which was good.  The Christmas Fair, being a glorified coffee morning really, is far less stressful and lovely near Christmas, so looking forward to that.

More info on next blogg….bet you can’t wait!!

Clubs - have you paid for a cricket coaching course?

Posted on 1 Oct 07 by Registered CommenterClair Gould | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail

If you are a club that has paid for a candidate to attend a coaching course in the last 2 years, please ask to see the candidates certificate!

Candidates can give the impression that they are qualified coaches, as they have completed the assessment day - THIS IS NOT ENOUGH ON ITS OWN.  Many have not gained all their competencies, and only being in possession of the 1st4sport Certificate will show full completion.

Candidates only have a set time to fully complete competencies.  If the club has paid for the course, the money could be wasted!

If you are a club concerned about the position of a candidate you have paid for, please contact KCB for assistance.

Deadlines set by 1st4sport.

1st4sport Level 1 Coaching Assistant Certificate: Competencies required within 1 year of the start date of the course the candidate attended; including ECB CRB disclosure, 1st aid and child protection course.

1st4sport Level 2 Coaching Award Certificate : Competencies required within 2 years of the start date of the course the candidate attended; including ECB CRB disclosure, 1st aid and child protection course.

Candidates not competent after this time will be de-registered by 1st4sport - the course will need to be paid for again and retaken, fully.

Deadline set by KCB

Due to the 1st4sport deadlines, KCB require candidates with outstanding qualifications, in either Level 1 or 2,  to contact KCB office on clair.gould.kent@ecb.co.uk or 01227 473618 by 19th October indicating intentions.

If no contact is made with KCB it will be considered that the candidate no longer wishes to continue and the candidate will be withdrawn from 1st4sport register.

Candidates are aware if they have outstanding elements.  All 1st4sport Level 2 candidates have been written to recently to inform them of the deadlines.

Many candidates have not contacted KCB at present, and will be withdrawn if not heard from by the deadline of 19 October.
