Middlesex 140 Andrew Fargie 4 - 25 ; Jan Gray 3 - 12
Kent 142 - 5 Daniel McHugh 37 : Jack Prideaux 32 : Henry Rutherford - Roberts 20
Match won by Kent
Middlesex won the toss and batted. They looked comfortable on 100 - 4 only to be routed for 140. Aggressive bowling from Fargie removed numbers 2,4,6 and 7 and spinner Gray weighed in with three wickets including two in two balls. The team backed up the bowlers in the field and Bedford, standing in for skipper Robinson as wicket keeper, took three catches and made two stumpings.
The Bedford / McHugh opening partnership got off to a brisk start, the former hitting three early fours before departing. A partnership of 50 then ensued between McHugh and Roberts. Prideaux followed up to hit 32.
Kent ran out relatively comfortable winners in the end.

KYC Under 12s Emerging Spitfires vs Surrey 3rd June
Match played at Ashtead CC Friday 3rd June (40 overs per side)
Kent 164 (32.3 overs)
Lewis Bedford 59
Harry Wren 31
Daniel McHugh 19
Surrey 143 (37.3 overs)
Laurence Snow 2-12
Jack Prideaux 2 - 13
McHugh 2 - 15
Kent won the match by 21 runs
An opening partnership of 55 between Bedford and McHugh sent Kent on their way and when Wren came to the crease he put on 45 with Bedford. However other partnerships of substance failed to materialise and the innings finished with a poor run out leaving 7 overs unused. This was not good team batting and set Surrey a target they must have been confident of overhauling.
However they made a slow start against Baxter’s leg spin and Tucker’s left arm swing. Despite a strong seventh wicket partnership Surrey fell short leaving Kent with a well deserved win. Robinson took two catches and made two stumpings, one of which was from a leg side wide. The bowlers kept chipping away with the wickets fairly evenly distributed and fewer extras being conceded.

KYC Under 12 Emerging Spitfires Boys vs Essex 22nd May 2011
Essex U12 v. Kent U12 (40 overs per side)
Essex 212 – 2 (Inns. Closed)
Kent 139 (31.4 overs) H.Wren 45 ; J.Prideaux 41
Despite taking a wicket in the second over Kent faced a formidable task by the end of the Essex innings. Too many “four-balls” were bowled and the fielding was not up to the standard of the previous week. Leg spin bowler Gray showed good control in bowling his eight overs at under three per over.
Kent’s early reply was marred by a lack of communication which cost two run-outs and left the score on 38 - 5. Wren and Prideaux then put on 68 in eight overs together putting bad balls away as well as manufacturing boundaries from better ones.
Wren hit nine fours while Prideaux hit seven as they rotated the strike to keep the momentum going. However once they were both out the innings ran out of steam leaving Essex worthy winners.
The team was:-
Lewis Bedford, Bill Cain, William Edwards, Jan Gray, Daniel McHugh, Jack Prideaux, Oliver Robinson *+, Henry Rutherford-Roberts, Joe Shamash, Laurence Snow, Owen Tucker, Harry Wren
KYC Under 12 Emerging Spitfires Boys vs Wellesley House 14th May 2011
Wellesley House v. Kent U12 (33 overs per side)
Wellesley House 109 – 9 Lewis Bedford 25
Kent 113 – 3 D.McHugh 47* ; H .Rutherford- Roberts 29
Kent won the toss and inserted their opponents on a difficult pitch, striking immediately by removing the opener with the first ball of the match.
A partnership of 42 then ensued, both batsmen being Kent players, but when this was broken the Spifires took wickets regularly. An unbroken last wicket partnership of 30 took the score up to 109. Tucker and Gray both took two wickets and two run outs were achieved.
After the early loss of skipper Robinson, McHugh and Rutherford – Roberts took hold of the game and the Spitfires ran out comfortable winners by 7 wickets with 31 balls to spare.
The team was:-
William Edwards, Andrew Fargie, Jan Gray, Daniel McHugh, Jack Prideaux, Oliver Robinson *+, Henry Rutherford-Roberts, Jai Shah, Joe Shamash, Laurence Snow, Owen Tucker, Harry Wren
