Kent Young Cricketers Girls Under 13 vs Essex 10th July 2010
Kent captain Hollie Summers got Kent back onto familiar ground as she won the toss and elected to bat. Leading from the front Hollie made a brisk 67 before falling to Brittany Smith.
A very useful 7th wicket partnership between Meg Carroll 21 not out and Phillipa Hemphrey 18 not out took Kent’s score to an imposing 197 for 6.
The Essex reply was going to plan as they reached 122 for 2 going into the last 10 overs. Hollie Summers decision to bring spinner Meg Belt into the attack paid dividends as she picked up 6 wickets for 17 runs in her 4 over spell and spared Kent any last over jitters as Essex finished 161 for 8.
Kent now need a good result against Surrey and in the last game of season Sussex to ensure a quarter final place against Suffolk.
