Surrey won by 68 runs

Surrey won the toss and batted on a ground with very short straight boundaries. The pitch proved ‘interesting’ at times and Kai Appleby kept extremely well, standing up to the seamers.

Kent reduced Surrey to 133 - 7 in the 27th.over with six different bowlers taking wickets. However Surrey’s numbers four and nine batted well and put on 55 for the 7th. wicket without taking any undue risks and some fielding errors in the last ten overs allowed Surrey to set a target of 220.

After losing a wicket early, Chaudhry and Dale concentrated hard and by the drinks break (15 overs) the total was 70 - 1 compared with Surrey’s score at the same stage of 63 - 3. The loss of Chaudhry in the next over and Dale being bowled in the 22nd. brought the scoring rate down and only 30 runs were made in the next twelve overs. This left 82 to be scored off the last ten, a task which was beyond the late order batsmen.

The team was:

  • Ashleigh Cox (Captain)
  • Kai Appleby (Wicketkeeper)
  • Elliott Bettridge
  • Stuart Boltman
  • Freddie Brushett
  • Robert Campbell
  • Asama Chaudhry
